Goddess Unmasked is a great one! Well, and you know how I feel about the Philokalia and, to a lesser extent, the Martin Jaffe. The rest, you'll have to tell me about!

Neat! I've got the Horbury, too, but haven't read it yet. If you read it soon, please post on it. Some others in the same mode are: Horbury, Messianism Among Jews and Christians; Skarsaune and Hvalvik, Jewish Believers in Jesus; Mowinckel, He That Cometh; Pomykala, The Davidic Dynasty Tradition in Early Judaism; Collins, The Scepter and the Star. It's a Messiah binge!

The Philokalia is, of course the Philokalia: the awesomeness of the Fathers on a page. I'd also recommend Constantine Cavarnos' translation of selections from the Philokalia (list of contents here). He translates St Nikodemos' Introduction to the Philokalia, which isn't included in the Faber & Faber translation.

A friend of mine, also a Jewish convert to Orthodoxy, told me he really enjoyed Fr Bernstein's book. I have yet to read it myself, though.

I look forward to reading your review of "Surprised By Christ"! That's on my list "to buy"....

The Franciscans are a good source for early archaeology of the Judeo-Christians but you need to specifically see and consult the Franciscans that are based in Jerusalem.
